What is Green Tech Skillnet?
The Green Tech Skillnet is an enterprise-led network facilitating the workforce and development needs of the Irish renewable energy industry. We provide industry-led training, networking opportunities, and subsidised learning programmes designed to help businesses and individuals develop the skills needed for the energy transition. The Network is co-funded by Skillnet Ireland and Network companies. Skillnet Ireland is funded through the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation, and Science.
Who can take part in Green Tech Skillnet programmes?
Green Tech Skillnet programmes are open to individuals and companies based in the Republic of Ireland who are working in, or seeking to transition into, the renewable energy and green technology sectors.
Subsidised funding is generally available to:
– Employees of private sector companies registered in the Republic of Ireland
– Sole traders
– Commercial semi-state companies (where funding is not sourced from the public purse)
– Selected programmes are also available for unemployed individuals and job seekers, subject to eligibility criteria.
Please note that Skillnet Ireland funding is not available to public sector bodies or publicly funded organisations such as charities and community-based not-for-profit organisations.
Is Green Tech Skillnet only for the wind industry?
No. While the network evolved from Wind Skillnet, Green Tech Skillnet now supports the broader renewable energy and green technology ecosystem in Ireland.
Are your courses accredited?
Some programmes lead to recognised certifications or micro-credentials, while others are industry-focused professional development courses. Accreditation details are listed on each course page.
Are courses delivered online or in person?
We offer a mix of online, hybrid, and in-person training depending on the course format and learning objectives.
Do you offer training for job seekers?
Yes. We offer selected fully funded programmes designed to help job seekers upskill or transition into careers in renewable energy and green technology. You can access them here.
