Now recruiting for the next cohort of our graduate training programme in renewable energy.

The Graduate & Career Development Programme brings together early-career professionals working across Ireland’s renewable energy sector. Over nine months, participants take part in structured training, hands-on learning, and networking – building skills and connections that support long-term career development in the industry.

*If you’re looking for our in-house graduate roles, check out our two-year Graduate Programme to find out more.

This programme is open to people who:

  • Are currently employed in the renewable energy or related sectors
  • Are supported by their employer to join
  • Want to build their knowledge of the sector, develop soft skills, and meet others working across the industry

Note: This programme is open to employees only. It is not available to students or unemployed applicants. Priority is given to employees of WEI member companies.

This is a structured, real-world learning experience focused on five key areas:

1. Industry Insights

Led by experts from across the sector, the sessions cover Ireland’s energy landscape, grid and markets, policy, offshore and onshore wind, and more.

2. Professional Development

Trainees strengthen their soft skills in communication, leadership, teamwork and time management — all essential for the workplace.

3. Real-World Exposure

Site visits take participants behind the scenes of energy infrastructure and policy development. The 2026 class will visit sites such as:

  • Ardnacrusha Power Station – where Ireland’s renewable story began
  • Wind farm and operational sites
  • Renewable energy research centres
  • The Department of Environment, Climate and Communications

4. Peer Learning & Networking

Participants build strong connections across companies and disciplines, creating a professional network that supports them throughout their careers.

5. Practical Application

Each group works on a team project throughout the programme. They present their work on the main stage at the WEI Annual Conference and showcase it in the Poster Room. Entry to three major WEI events is included in the programme.

Backed by Industry

The programme is supported by leading employers in Ireland’s renewable energy sector.

To date, over 65 professionals from 17 companies have taken part.
